What’s for breakfast?

Ever caught yourself wondering, What should I have for breakfast? 🤔

Well, let me tell you one of the most common blunders I’ve seen from folks on the weight loss train: breakfast. AND once again, we should not focus on weight….BUT health

Yep, you guessed it. It’s usually cereal and/or toast, some drive through, eating like a rabbit or—brace yourself—nothing at all. 😐

Big. Mistake. Why? There’s a mountain of evidence showing that gobbling down a high-protein breakfast can actually aid in HEALTH (or weight loss if you are still stuck in that mindset….I will get you out 🎉

How? Let’s talk leptin. This powerful, master hormone, produced by your fat cells, signals to your brain that you’re full and helps regulate energy balance.

But here’s the catch: many suffer from leptin resistance, where your brain doesn’t listen to this signal properly, leading to hunger even if you’re well-fed.

Enter the Big Ass Breakfast (BAB).

By kicking off your day with a hearty meal after witnessing the sunrise, you align your gut clocks with the SCN (suprachiasmatic nucleus), effectively attempting to resync leptin sensitivity.

The BAB should be at least 50 grams of protein or more. If you need extra help resyncing your leptin my Leptin Transformation is 50% off for Christmas (through 12/26/24) HERE, use code ‘leptinchristmas’

So, why the talk about seasonal eating? Let’s dive in!

  • As temperatures drop and the high is under 62 degrees, it’s time to switch to a more keto-like or low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) diet plan. This is especially helpful if you’re experiencing leptin resistance.

  • Eating seasonally means aligning your diet with what nature provides during different times of the year. This approach can improve leptin sensitivity and ensure you’re getting the freshest, most nutrient-dense foods.

  • By embracing seasonal produce, you not only enjoy peak flavors but also support your body’s natural cycles and nutritional needs, making it easier to adapt to these dietary changes. 🍂 December through March in Ohio the only veggies/fruits I eat are onions, mushrooms (not a veggie), seaweed, and the occasional avocado.

Remember, the goal is to eat as much as possible seasonally, making the most of nature’s offerings while supporting your health journey. 🌿Eggs, Meats, seafood, nuts/seeds/good fats will make the bulk up.

Having trouble? Well for the past 5 days I’ve eaten my wonderful cheese sandwich. Ingredients– cheese and butter. Right now I have 3 cheeses on hand- Kerry Gold’s Dubliner and Reserve Cheddar and some swiss. I usually take 1.5-2.5 ounces of each and .75-1 ounce of butter but together and enjoy. Sometimes I will add any meats my kids didn’t eat or cream cheese for extra flavor.
