So our National Detox Challenge started on Sunday, 1/18/15 and goes for 21-days. From the facebook group I can tell there is already some awesome changes! My challenge is a vegetarian one.Â
And then on Monday I decided to start my Pesco-Ovo-Vegetarian Challenge. So for the next 30-days I am a vegetarian so-to-speak.Â
The reason I decided to go pesco and ovo (which means I still consume fish/seafood and eggs) is because I promised myself I wouldn’t do anything that might be damaging to my health– Like I did when I did my carb challenge; originally it was supposed to be 30-days, but it only lasted 7 because the results were ridiculous and I got sick– you can see that challenge here.Â
But after researching vegetarianism and veganism I simply couldn’t go strict vegan.
It was just about 10 or so years ago that I thought the only thing vegetarians are was just vegetables and fruit. It’s unbelievable how much processed ‘vegetarian’ garbage there is out there. It’s a huge market to pray on the consumer– just like the regular processed foods, and the gluten-free arena as well.Â
But after researching vegetarianism and veganism I simply couldn’t go strict vegan. Huge believer in getting plenty of DHA which fish and seafood is loaded with. I have been eating a lot more fish as of late (like the last 3 months), it’s the most important fat for the brain– the brain is actually made up of 2/3’s of fat and 25% of that fat is DHA– which is one the Essential Omega 3 Fatty Acid Family. I feel amazing when eating more of it like I have the past 3 months.Â
The other thing I couldn’t give up was cholesterol. If you have watched my cholesterol presentation here, you know I am a huge proponent of it.Â
I’ve had mine tested 2x in the past year and if I went to a regular physician they would be trying to put me on a statin drug STAT- like ASAP. But knowing your total cholesterol numbers is completely worthless! Like switching seats on the Titanic You got to know your particles!
I will actually be doing a webinar just on cholesterol soon and going over all of my blood tests.Â
But again that was the other big reason for not going strict vegan. There were some others as well like B vitamins, iron and such.Â
Plus the challenge I am doing is still in the ketogenic paleo realm. So high fat, moderate protein, and low carbs (less then 40 net carbs).Â
You can actually see my food log for this challenge here.
I’ve had no problems so far (a little bit sad when cooking bacon for my wife and not eating any myself
I just am very excited to keep bringing you the results of these ketogenic experiments. I’ve done 4 so far— ‘regular’ keto, ‘carb-up day’ keto, ‘intermittent fasting’ keto, and now this one. Look for a challenge from it soon.Â

Thank you!
