Bootcamp is something that started a whole new craze of fitness. But is it a fad going away?
I certainly was in the midst of it when I launched Yun Fitness Bootcamps in Hilliard, and later in Downtown Columbus.
Like all kinds of training programs there are good examples and there are bad. There are good trainers and coaches and there are bad. But I know a lot of trainers who still run ‘bootcamp’ an consider them some of the best in the fitness industry.
With bootcamp, in my opinion most of the programs are closer to the bad. Which is why we transitioned our name from Yun Fitness Bootcamps to Improvement Warrior Fitness.
We call out workouts FLO now which stands for Fat Loss Opportunity. But a lot of our clients still call it bootcamp, and I myself sometimes do as well.
When we were strictly boot camp I’m pretty confident in saying that it was one of the best, if not the best in Ohio. And we have only gotten better.
Now I don’t really have time to delve into the nuances of what makes a bad or a good or an outstanding program. Regardless of what it is called. There are many factors that go into that.
Our program has evolved as I have evolved. I’m constantly learning and educating myself about new training and nutrition techniques (hint hint: that is one of the things that is an absolute must to be an awesome program– fitness changes too quickly to just be the same all the time).
One of our main objectives with every single workout (or FLO) is that we implement a whole body routine. Most of our clients have busy lives, we try and get them in for 3 workouts, but sometimes things happen. You know, life……… Which is the reason for whole body workouts. This allows the most muscles to be worked, burning the most calories and fat…. not during the actual workout, because fat burning doesn’t truly happen until after the workout, something called EPOC- excessive post exercise consumption. Basically it is your body trying to get back to homeostasis. It happens all the time with intense workouts. Which our program is.
But one of the awesome things about our program is that we cater to all types of fitness levels. Another thing we do is we will Red Light you. So if you are a beginner and you’re not capable of performing an exercise quite right– which could be due to a number of things, we will Red Light you.
It doesn’t mean we don’t love you any less, it just means we want you to get stronger and more fit before attempting anything that might cause an injury or delay your progress.
Yes we know injuries suck.
Well, looks like I will have to be back later with some more reasons (and the #1 reason) why we changed from bootcamp to Improvement Warrior Fitness in another post. Hope you enjoyed this one.
