Barefoot Sprinting and Fascia

Barefoot Sprinting?

Note: Barefoot sprinting takes a lot to build up to especially if you are still wearing normal shoes.

Over the past month I accomplished a major feat

I was able to sprint πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ barefoot 2 x on a track. I ran 4 200’s after my warm up and then again 2 weeks later. Although yesterday due to the cold wasn’t able to, had to go back to shoes.

I’m planning on doing 2 sprint sessions a week. One shorter, 50-100 meters and then the other longer, 200-400s.

I have been able to run barefoot in the grass and sand for years with no problem.

My fave place was at the Shoe, Ohio stadium 🏟 for those not Buckeye normalized. One of my groomsmen and friends since high school said we were going to race and I crushed him in the 50 yarder.

Jason Yun Sprinting in Ohio Stadium barefoot sprints run technique, speed and agility new albany ohio,

But I had been trying on a track for a couple of weeks to no avail. I started following barefootsprinter on Instagram.Β  Well without any speed….I can. Run really slow on the track is not what wanted.

Turns out my fascia and especially my plantar fascia was not strong enough to support it. Because we should be able to walk, run on any surfaces.

Just another reason Why shoes suck and wil be a future episode of Unknown Death Causers.

So I started doing my neighborhood walks and bus stop pick ups barefoot.Β  Switching sidewalk to street. Streets alot tougher.

But that is one way to build your fascia.

And apparently our fascia is much more important than our muscles.

Take a look at what our fascia does compared to what are muscles do.

44

Which also ties into the importance of our posture.

Which is #13 of 14 in my 14 pillars of health but not just body posture but also our tongue, jaw, teeth posture.

I started to doing some oral health exercises. Check out the first few videos here

And do them.

And fix your tongue πŸ‘… The tongue spot:

  1. Whenever/wherever possible try and keep the tongue in the tongue spot see attached pic
    44
  2. This is the position we are supposed to be in all the time we are not speaking/eating
  3. Driving is great time and when I do most of drive time
  4. set up reminders, sticky notes, etc….
  5. The tongue is heavily connected to our fascia system
  6. Mouth closed and teeth slightly touching each while in position
  7. Nasal and belly breathing as much as possible.
  8. Strengthening the tongue will strengthen oral posture, jaw structure, teeth, neck/shoulder alignment, etc… which will lead to better blood flow to and from spinal cord to brain to every place in body. Watch those exercises I mentioned above.

Im still learning about fascia but apparently the big toe and the tongue are 2 of the most important. The latter is especially important for sleep.

I got in 2 beach sprints while down in Florida. Sadly I probably saw 120-140 people running on the beach, only 9 were barefoot πŸ™

Remember our 4 basic patterns that make us human and standing, walking, sprinting and throwing

Lose anyone of those and things start fallingΒ  apart and we start aging faster.

Heres another video, I shared with you last week, going over standing and shifting your weight properly HERE
