    A Healthy muffin? | New Albany Nutrition & Ketogenic Diet

    Someone posted this as a healthy alternative to a muffin in my twitter feed.
    almost 6 teaspoons of sugar in this healthy muffin. Jason Yun Ketogenic Diet Coaching and carnivore.
    I say it’s diabetes in the making. Let’s break it down:
    • (56 grams of carbs) 2 medium ripe bananas (spotty, not those pale-yellow ones that taste like a potato)
    • (36 grams of carbs) ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
    • 3 packets stevia (or 3 tablespoons of honey, maple syrup, sugar, or nothing- 51 grams if use honey or maple syrup)
    • 2½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats (67 grams)
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • 6 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped (30 grams)
    • ½ cup raisins (57 grams)
    • 1 teaspoon coconut oil, plus extra for greasing the pan
    • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
    • 12 hazelnuts (walnuts, cashews, or pecans work, too)
    So that comes out to 246 grams of carbohydrates without honey or maple syrup. So that means there is 61.5 teaspoons of sugar.  We’ll assume 12 total muffins about 5.125 tsps of sugar in one muffin. 
    The amount in one regular oatmeal banana muffin? 6 teaspoons. 
    My point is this: a lot of people think that fruit is a free pass. Not so. Fruit is nature’s candy. Candy being the emphasis. Treat it as such. The only times it should be eaten is when it is in-season and local. It’s winter and where I live- there is no in-season fruit. Now if you live in Florida or the Tropics then that is a different story.

    Fruit in nature was there in the spring and summer so the animals could get fat for the winter to protect them over the winter.

    Ahh, but what about the nutrition? You would have to eat 17 apples to be the same equivalent nutrition from 1 apple from the 1970’s.

    Plus, you have to think about the Deuterium content. Dee T WHAT? Just think of it as heavy ass water. it’s 2x as heavy as the regular water in you, so its like putting Aunt Jemima Syrup in your gas tank. Things in you can’t flow as well, and things get sticky, inflammation ensues, hormones get whacked, disease to follow if not changed.

    High deuterium will be pretty much all cancer cases as well.

    Dried fruits are deuterium bombs…just like the dates and raisins in the muffin recipe.
