Down below are the results and reflection sheet answers for the 21-Day Sugar Detox Challenge
This was the first 21-day Sugar Detox Challenge that Improvement Warrior Fitness has put on. More will definitely be coming!
Please take a look at the before after pictures and their answers in the reflection sheet and leave a comment below for who you feel is the winner of the 21-Day Sugar Detox Challenge is.
Please keep in mind that this is not a weight loss challenge. Weight, fat, and inches lost will be a by-product of this style and plan of nutrition. But it’s main goal is to rid your body of the cravings for bad stuff– sugar and refined/processed carbs (breads, grains, pasta, cereal, etc….) Our hope is to teach you an eating plan you can stick with for life and never, ever have to diet again- because diets don’t work for long-term health and body composition- EVER!

Stay Strong, Stay Positive, Be The Improvement Warrior!
My main concern/fear was that I wouldn’t be able to do it. Sugar is in so many things that you don’t even realize, I was afraid of failing before I even began.
Anonymous 1:
Trying to stick to it for 21 days.
Jacalyne Adkins:
When I first decided to participate my concern is that I would get hungry at work because of my lunch choices–it’s hard to bring a lunch to work when there isn’t a kitchen at work (microwave is available but that is all).
Michael Wiedenbein:
I was worried that if I could stay away from purchasing/consuming candy, ice cream, pop, bread, and wheat products.
Didn’t really have any, just wanted to know what I could have and understand the effects on the body more.
Brenda:
If the workshop is the seminar: I didn’t make it to the workshop, but I did get to watch the video of the workshop. The information was eye-opening, and made me go from “I can’t wait until this detox is over so that I can go back to eating x, y, and z,” to “I never want to go back to eating x, y, and z again!”
Cynthia:
The manual was very helpful and a great guide
Kaitlin:
The workshop/seminar was great. It was very informative and provided a good starting point for the challenge. It’s important to understand the science behind all of the food and to learn about what these poisons are really doing to our body. It was insightful and provided motivation to push through the challenge.
Anonymous 1:
I was not able to attend the workshop. The manual was okay but some additional sample menus to help stick to the plan would have been helpful. Recipes were good but plans that incorporate everyday food that doesn’t require special preparation would have been helpful.
Jacalyne:
I think they were useful to help come up with ideas of what to eat.
Michael:
Unable to attend the workshop in person. The online workshop was good. Some times got a bit too technical/scientific.
Sharron:
I found them useful.
Brenda:
I wouldn’t have made it for the whole 21 days if it weren’t for the support provided. However, I was hoping that more people would share how they were doing on a more regular basis. (During the challenge I started two years ago but could not finish due to an unexpected surgery, there were more frequent interactions from the other participants.) I did feel that when I was having a rough day, I could get on the Facebook page, post my concerns, and receive support. That support got me over some humps that would have otherwise caused me to quit. The support made me feel more accountable for finishing the challenge. (I did not get much support from family and friends, making the group REALLY important to have.)
Cynthia:
The support as always is wonderful. I did not take advantage of what was offered.
Kaitlin:
The support in this challenge was fantastic! The Facebook group was a great addition to the challenge. I didn’t necessarily post that much on the page itself but I checked it almost daily to see what others were being challenged with and how they overcame. Many shared recipe ideas and ways they were coping with challenges. To feel not alone on any challenge is a great motivator.
Anonymous 1:
Yes there were several means of support– email, facebook
Jacalyne:
Yes, the Facebook group page was a good support source.
Michael:
Yes. Good recipes and answers to questions asked.
Sharron:
Yes, there was a lot of support from the FB group and friends who were also doing the challenge.
Brenda:
The main side effects I noticed included: lowering my blood pressure (taking my blood pressure medicine only twice during the 21 days, taking a non-traditional supplement 7 days, half of that supplement 3 days, and nothing 9 days); cinching my belt one notch tighter; increased energy late in the day (unfortunately, I felt sluggish most days until dinnertime); no late-night snacking; loss of cravings (carbs) and habits (nightly beer); and losing 5.8 pounds.
Cynthia:
Although I started the challenge and was unable to continue due to a hectic schedule I notice I was sleeping better and certain clothing was a little loose. I plan on trying to do this again to finish it through for all the great benefits.
Kaitlin:
I really enjoyed the foods I ate. I felt lighter and had more energy. I did have a setback at the end of the challenge and had a few beers, it was a total mistake. The next day I could definitely tell the difference of what I put into my body vs. what I had been and it was horrible! I felt sluggish and my stomach was upset the entire next day. I focused a lot on drinking more water throughout the challenge and that little change really made a big difference as well. I’m starting to see more physical changes and I plan to stick with a version of the challenge far past the timeframe of the challenge.
Anonymous 1:
Increased energy, clothes fit better
Jacalyne:
I had increased energy, less hunger (I was hungry less in between meals), I woke up feeling awake and not tired, some clothes fit better
Michael:
Lowered body fat % from 22-23% to 18-19%.
Sharron:
Clothes fit better and I never really felt hungry.
Brenda:
I would tell a friend that it is indeed a challenge, but it’s for only 21 days and very much worth it!
Cynthia:
Yes I would and always recommend anything Yun Fitness has
The challenge was a great opportunity to test yourself and find out what your body needs and what you think it needs. It helps with cravings and you just feel lighter and healthier throughout. It’s ok to indulge every once in a while but taking part in a challenge like this can help rid your body of poisons that you might not even want to indulge.
Anonymous 1:
I would suggest that they try it
Jacalyne:
That it’s worth the challenge, it makes you cook more, spend less and really focuses on proportions
Michael:
That if they are ready for a lifestyle change, then they should strongly consider doing the challenge.
Sharron:
Try it, it might not be for everyone but you don’t know if you don’t try.
Brenda:
I liked that we were discouraged from weighing in throughout the challenge. I think that I would have been discouraged by the few pounds I was losing. It made sense that this was more than a weight-loss challenge and more of a changing habits challenge.
Thank you for offering the challenge!
Kaitlin:
I would recommend this challenge to anyone looking to rid your body of poisons and get on the right track to a healthier lifestyle. The amount of energy you feel throughout the challenge is reason enough to at least try it out. We will all have pitfalls and challenges but as long as we pick ourselves back up and continue on, it’s a success. But when those pitfalls do happen, you’ll really notice the difference of what this challenge is doing to your body and the benefits it’s providing. I may not have lost a ton of weight or inches but it sure has moved me in that direction and given me motivation to stick with it because those changes are bound to happen.
Anonymous 1:
I liked that the workouts were also provided
Jacalyne:
I think I will do the challenge 1-3 times a year just to do it.
Michael:
I’m glad I participated. Reading food labels more closely and have cut out 80-90% of the carbs/sugars that I was consuming. Bread/wheat was harder to ‘give up’ then candy/sugar.
